Camarillo Community Information

Camarillo is the center of a fertile farm area where citrus fruits and flowers are grown. The whole area is permanently zoned for agricultural use. The city is located on the eastern part of Ventura County and is divided in half by the 101 freeway. Camarillo also has electronic and aerospace industries as well as manufacturing plants. Camarillo was incorporated in 1962, with a 5 member city council elected every 4 years. The city has grown significantly since the 1970s along with the southern California area. The Ventura County Sheriff's Academy, St. John's College and California State Univ. Channel Islands are located there.
