Culver City Community Information

A man name Harry Culver found Culver City in 1913, and the city was later incorporated on September 20, 1917. Countless television shows and movies have been made in Culver City. The first film studio was built by Thomas Ince in 1918. Culver City was a known gathering spot during the Prohibition years. Sony Picture Studios(MGM) has made Culver City its home, along with Hal Roach Studios and Culver Studios. During the 60's 28 acres of the MGM movie lot was sold. Today it is know as the Hayden Industrial Tract. Culver City was revitalized in the 1990's with the construction of the Fox Hills Shopping Mall located on Sepulveda Blvd. You will find many art galleries in the Culver City Art District.
