Diamond Bar Community Information

Diamond Bar is another par of California that was attained by a land grant from Mexico. Included in this deed was 4,340 acres. The whole area was mainly used for farming and raising cattle. That came to an end when a great drought occurred in the late 1800's. The entire Diamond Bar Ranch was acquired by the Transamerica Corporation in the 1950s for the purpose of developing one of the nation's first master-planned communities. The first tract homes went up in 1960, right next to where the Pomona Freeway (60) would later pass. Diamond Bar was later incorporated on April 18 1989. The city of Diamond Bar is divided into two school districts; the Walnut Valley Unified School District and the Pomona Unified School District.
