La Habra Community Information

Around one hundred years ago La Habra was home to mostly sheep herders and cattle ranchers. They eventually left like in many other areas of Los Angeles County due to the severe droughts. The first post office in La Habra was established in 1898. The post office was established in what as known as the birthplace of La Habra, on the southeast corner of Euclid Street and La Habra Boulevard. The Pacific Electric Railway arrived in 1908, creating opportunities to ship tomatoes and cabbages grown in the area. As a result the population had grown to a few hundred people. The city was officially incorporated in January 20, 1925, at the time of its incorporation the population was 3,000. A well known resident of La Habra is former president Richard Milhous Nixon. Today some of La Habra's industries include; Computer equipment, metal and rubber products, plumbing fixtures, and flavoring extracts are produced, and an oil research center is nearby. Standard Oil owns wells in southern La Habra.
