Lynwood Community Information

Lynwood got its in 1902, from C.H. Sessions. C.H. Sessions had acquired title of about 400 acres and established a dairy and creamery. His wife's maiden name was Miss Lynn Wood and the family agreed together to call the place the "Lynwood Dairy and Creamery". Later in 1913 seven gentlemen formed the Lynwood Company and bought 800 acres in the area. These gentlemen built suburban tract homes all through out their land. Still in the early 1900's Lynwood farmers grew mostly sugar beets and also raised an impressive amount of other products, particularly hay. The present day Lynwood junior high was built in 1930 and was the only school in this district that was not condemned after the 1933 earthquakes. Lynwood had a total population 72,984 at last count.
