Pasadena Community Information

Pasadena was incorporated as a city in March, 1886. Its beautiful landscape is what led its original inhabitants to the area. After several railway companies made Pasadena a stop along the railroad, the population really grew. Today the city is a research and technological center that manufactures paper, plastics, machinery parts, paints, electronic equipment and systems, medical supplies, and computers. The annual Tournament of Roses in the Rose Bowl which seats100,000 spectators is held in Pasadena. The city is also the seat of the California Institute of Technology and Pacific Oaks College. It has the Botanical Gardens; a symphony orchestra; a community playhouse; the Huntington Library, Art Collections, d Botanical Gardens; the Norton Simon Museum; the Pacific Asia Museum; and several gardens noted for their rare flora. Mt. Wilson Observatory is nearby.
