South Gate Community Information

South Gate is one of Los Angeles County's more industrious cities. It was incorporated in 1923, and later in 1928 Firestone Tire and Rubber Company built is factory on a former bean field there. The city of South Gate is 7.5 square miles, with a population at last count of 103,547. South Gate was one of ten U.S. communities to receive the All-America City Award from the National Civic League, in 1990. South Gate is served by the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Paramount Unified School District.
